John Peabody founded Peabody Health Philanthropies in 2023 to give clinicians and health systems a practical, measurable way to improve patient care.

A physician, researcher, and health economist, Dr. Peabody has spent decades developing evidence-based tools that measure clinical decisions, reveal variation in practice, and support better patient outcomes. Much of his work focuses on low- and middle-income countries.

Dr. Peabody works with country leaders, universities, hospitals, governments, and nonprofit partners to bring EQIS to clinicians and build programs that country teams can operate and sustain.

Dr. Peabody's work rests on a practical premise: clinicians need a clear way to review decisions, compare them with evidence, and improve. A patient with an urgent condition cannot wait for quality improvement to remain abstract. EQIS places feedback inside the case while the clinical choices are fresh. The method gives clinicians information they can use in practice and gives health-system leaders evidence about variation that standard training cannot show.
