Current Projects

PHP has active programs in Kenya, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. Trusted country partners lead each project.

Country collaborations

Country leaders define clinical priorities, write or adapt cases, implement EQIS, and use results to strengthen care. PHP supplies the platform and method, teaches the country team, and supports government approval and financial sustainability.

Kenya

Kenya

The Challenge

Variation in clinical decision-making can lead to inconsistent maternal and newborn care. Clinicians need practical, evidence-based feedback that reflects Kenya's national guidelines and the resources available at their facilities.

Our Approach

PHP partners with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology through DHARC-JKUAT to implement EQIS across six hospitals in Kisumu and Kilifi counties. The 24-month program will engage about 400 nurses, clinical officers, medical officers, and specialists in six rounds built around 36 maternal and newborn scenarios written by Kenyan clinicians.

Current Status

The Kenya program has launched and is in its first learning round. Results will be reported after enough rounds are complete to support a sound comparison of clinical decisions and variation.

Vietnam

Vietnam

The Challenge

Vietnam needs a system that supports clinicians throughout their careers and gives institutions reliable information about variation, learning needs, and excess care.

Our Approach

PHP collaborates with VinUniversity, VinMec, and Vietnamese clinical leaders. A peer-reviewed study used EQIS with 287 obstetric and cardiac clinicians across seven VinMec hospitals, documenting variation in clinical decisions and unnecessary testing. Local partners are using this evidence while continuing EQIS learning rounds and developing broader professional-development pathways.

Current Status

Vietnamese institutions lead case development, implementation, research, and planning for continued use. Discussions about professional-development integration are underway.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh

The Challenge

Clinicians and health-system leaders need a reliable way to identify variation and focus maternal and pediatric learning.

Our Approach

PHP works with the Projahnmo Research Foundation and the Elias and Sultana Foundation. Clinicians complete six rounds with immediate feedback, and anonymous, aggregate reports guide improvement.

Current Status

The program is active, with learning rounds continuing alongside discussions about government collaboration and continuing medical education.
