Meet the Founder

How good is your doctor?

PHP founder, John Peabody’s, passion has been to make sure that every-person, everywhere gets the best clinical care. John did this by solving the vexing problem of measuring clinical practice—what your doctor does—when they see you.  By 2000, Dr. Peabody, who is an MD, PhD, had created and validated an online simulated-patient platform. His software tool takes a detailed look at an individual providers patient care and compares their practices to best practices.  In 2012, John took his concept into the marketplace and started his company, QURE.  The company was widely hailed as an innovation in measurement, grew rapidly and began being used in health care systems—hospitals and doctors—throughout the US. In 2021, John sold QURE.  A stipulation of the sale was that John would retain the rights to use the simulated patient platform in the poorest parts of the world, free of charge.  With a substantial amount of the proceeds from QURE, John launched Peabody Health Philanthropies (PHP), and in 2023 formed a 501c3 organization. Today the platform, now known as EQIS (E-patient Quality Improvement and Standardization), measures clinical decisions and gives real-time feedback on quality of medical care to more than 2000 providers in low- and middle-income countries around the world.
